Squarespace Custom Development for Web Designers

For Custom Development projects I only build on Squarespace 7.1 fluid engine.

If your client is not on Squarespace or has a site on version 7.0, they will need to be ok with moving to 7.1.

Yes I do! But first I like to use the Squarespace settings and features to their full potential before adding any code. I will add code to achieve the design, but I try to do it in a smart way so that the site is still accessible to your client so they can easily maintain the site.

No worries, I totally get it! It is a big move, the development process is a huge part of the project, but you’re in good hands! I’m very experienced in designing and developing Squarespace websites; I look at the designs with my design eye but also think strategically about how to build the site so it’s manageable for the client. I try to make things as uncomplicated as possible, so the project goes smoothly, but also so the site is easy to hand off to the client and they can maintain the site moving forward.

That’s entirely up to you! If you’d prefer that I talk directly to the client I can. But from experience, I do find it’s easier if I communicate with the designer since you’re the one who hired me and the scope of work and design has been discussed with you.

I’ve done jobs where it’s a partnership with the designer where the client knows about me, I’m credited in the footer and can share the work publicly but I also do white label work where the client is not aware of me at all. So it’s totally up to you and what you’d like to do.

On average it’s 2-3 weeks. The first week is the homepage buildout and revisions. The second week is the remaining pages, final revisions and connecting the domain. Sometimes it will be three weeks if there are a lot of pages.

Access to the Figma or XD design file

• This would have all of the pages designed out and have been approved by the client.

Google Drive or Dropbox link with all files

• Branding: logos, font files

• Copy and images not provided on the design file - such as FAQs, testimonials, slideshows

Typically, the starting price for a 6 page website is $1,500 at the minimum. I do custom pricing per project for custom development so feel free to ask about this before you have started working with the client.

I have some designers reach out while still in the discovery phase with clients and I have some who reach out once the design is done or about to be done so it's up to you.

And I don't mind if you ask and then the client doesn't end up booking with you, that's fine too! You want to make sure you are budgeting correctly for the project.

Totally possible, I’ve worked with non- Squarespace designers before.
I’d recommend setting up a call with me to go over what functionality in the site you're looking for to make sure that Squarespace is the right platform for the site and that I can build out your design idea.

Then during the design phase I’d recommend communicating with me to make sure what you’re designing is possible so we can eliminate any issues before the development stage.
